Installation and massing considerations:

  • The building’s exterior, public reception and arrival spaces should serve as a much-needed addition to the quantity and quality of public urban spaces and green areas.

  • Implementation of a functional building layout with the smallest possible site coverage.

  • No building should exceed ground floor + one upper floor, in consideration of the surrounding built environment.

  • No underground levels should be constructed.

  • Whenever possible, the landscaped areas of Bucka Lake should be actively connected with the newly created sports and playground courtyards.

Taking into account both the siting requirements of the larger program areas and the goals listed above, the building has been positioned at the intersection of the arms of the T-shaped plot, forming a spatial boundary between the street-facing public areas and the external yard spaces reserved exclusively for students during school hours. The volumes forming this spatial boundary have been pulled apart to create public space extensions. The compact mass has been broken up by large ground-floor façade openings, visual connections between external areas, and depth variations along the spatial boundary that follows the curvature of Csónak Street.
