Our office won the honor to prepare the architectural and engineering design of this project on a national design competition, involving 26 other participants. The tender requirements included strict criteria for phasing, costs, the expected mix of apartments and the technical requirements of the building on a relatively odd-shaped plot. The municipality expected the creation of low operational-cost apartments, consisting of approximately 120 units, 60% of which were required to be of 60m2 (with living room+2 bedrooms+kitchen), while the remaining 40% was to be around 42m2 (livingroom+bedroom+kitchen). There were communal spaces to be created on the ground floor. When forming the building mass and the façade, we used a simple technical design, which yet fits the slightly mediterranean architectural traditions of the town of Pecs.
